Universal Defence and Security Solutions attended the Tech UK National Security Reception on Thursday 21st March in Westminster, an event that stands as a testament to the intersection of technology and national security.
Co-chairman Peter Hewitt met with Sheila Flavell, the President of Tech UK, who graciously hosted UDSS members, including Air Commodore (Ret’d) Jason Crawford and Mark Roberts, the Head of Security at UDSS.
The gathering marked techUK's second National Security Reception, underscoring its commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration among key stakeholders in the national security and technology sectors. The reception offered a unique platform for informal yet insightful discussions on how technology can bolster the protection of the UK's homeland.
techUK’s National Security Programme plays a pivotal role in leading debates on the dual nature of new and emerging technologies as they offer opportunities to enhance the UK's national security while also posing potential vulnerabilities. Through its thoughtful leadership, the programme navigates the complex challenges facing the national security community, focusing on areas such as procurement enhancement, innovation stimulation, and the vital issues of diversity, inclusion, and bridging the skills gap in the sector.
Furthermore, the event celebrated the formation of the new National Security Committee within techUK. This committee is poised to address strategic security concerns affecting the UK's technology sector and create avenues for the government’s national security community to connect with technology providers. As techUK's authoritative voice on national security, the committee is dedicated to spotlighting the role of technology in offering viable solutions to national security challenges.
The National Security Reception not only reaffirmed techUK's role as a bridge between technology and national security but also highlighted the collective effort and dedication of its members towards securing a safer future. It was an honour for the UDSS team to be part of such an important conversation and to stand among individuals committed to making a difference in the realm of national security.
