UDSS Co-Chairman Peter Hewitt took part in the UK's first ever Space Finance and Tech Summit this week.
The event hosted by techUK in collaboration with The D Group at the techUK London office proved to be a highly informative and engaging affair with a focus on the economic outlook for space investment in the UK and the incentives driving access to capital. Attendees listened to speakers from some of the most innovative start-ups and SMEs working in the space industry today.
Minister of State in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology George Freeman MP delivered a keynote speech at the Summit, sharing his thoughts on the future of the space sector and the impact it could have on the wider economy.
As part of the event, a panel session dived into the economic outlook for private sector investment into the UK’s space and satellite sector.
Mark Garnier; Daniel Jones from UK Space Agency; Sam Adlen from Satellite Applications Catapult; Rob Desborough from Seraphim Space and Peter L R Hewitt, JP, FCSI, FRSA from Universal Defence and Security Solutions examined the incentives driving access to capital, and discussed what’s needed to fulfil the UK’s ambition of building a world-class space economy.
The Summit also featured a pitching session showcasing some of the most innovative companies working in the UK today, including: Satellite Vu; Space DOTS®; PlanetWatchers; ODIN Space and Space Solar.
