Reservist visit to Royal Air Force Brize Norton

Co-Chairman Peter Hewitt JP took part in a visit to Royal Air Force Brize Norton arranged by 601 (County of London) Sqn (RAuxAF) in his role as an Honorary Group Captain in 601 (County of London) Squadron.

Being a Reservist in the UK Armed Forces is important because it provides the country with a trained and ready pool of personnel that can be called upon to support the Regular military in times of need.

“Being a Reservist in the RAF is an exceptionally important part of my life, being able to serve my country and maintain my civilian career is extremely rewarding. The opportunities for the development of valuable skills, including leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving are in abundance. The sense of purpose derived from Service is also very rewarding"

UDSS Co-Chairman Peter Hewitt, JP is an Honorary Group Captain in 601 Squadron, the visit to Royal Air Force Brize Norton, organised by Group Capt Claire O’Grady and the Commander Air Wing, Group Captain Gareth Burdett, was a return match to the RN Honorary Captains for arranging a visit to HMS Queen Elizabeth. A number of senior officers from the British Army's 77 Brigade also attended the visit.
