Supporting the Armed Forces Community: UDSS at the RFCA Dinner

Peter Hewitt attended the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA) Dinner at Mansion House last month in his capacity as Co-Chair of Universal Defence and Security Solutions (UDSS).

"It was an honour to be part of such a distinguished gathering, celebrating the invaluable role of the Armed Forces community and those who support them.

An added highlight of the evening was reconnecting with my former Aldermanic colleague, the Lord Mayor, Alderman Alastair King, alongside respected friends and colleagues from 601 Squadron RAuxAF," commented Peter.

A Proud Signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant

UDSS is deeply committed to supporting the UK Armed Forces, veterans, and their families. Since 2023, UDSS has proudly held the Gold Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, reflecting its unwavering dedication to the Armed Forces Covenant. This Covenant ensures that those who serve, have served, and their families are treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they so proudly serve.

"Attending the Armed Forces Covenant Dinner at Mansion House—hosted by The Lord Mayor and The Lady Mayoress, herself a dedicated reservist—was a privilege. It was inspiring to be in the company of like-minded organisations that actively support the Armed Forces community," added Peter.

Strengthening Bonds with the Defence Community

The event also provided an excellent opportunity for Peter to reconnect with Sir Charles Bowman, former Lord Mayor of London and Honorary Air Commodore of No 2623 (East Anglian) Squadron, RAuxAF Regiment and to to spend time with fellow reservists from No 601 (County of London) Squadron, RAuxAF, reinforcing the strong bonds within the defence community.

A lighter moment of the evening included sharing a joke with The Right Honourable Alastair Carns, DSO OBE MC MP, Minister for Veterans and a former Royal Marines officer.

The Growing Role of Reservists in Defence

Peter commented, "I am immensely proud to serve as a reservist in 601 Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force and to be part of this extraordinary community. The role of Reservists will only grow in importance over the coming years, bringing essential skills and expertise to the future military landscape."

UDSS is uniquely positioned to contribute to this mission. With over 700 veterans as Members, UDSS serves as a key capacity builder for His Majesty’s Government (HMG), offering vital expertise across defence, security, and strategic advisory services.
