Our Co-Chair, General Sir Richard Barrons, kick-started the Forces Employment Charity Pathways Into Tech 2024 event at Google Academy, London, alongside tech leaders Alex Burton (Co-Founder - Alchem Technologies Ltd) and James Murphy (Director of Veterans and Families, Forces Employment Charity) earlier this month.
The event aimed to bridge the gap between military service and tech careers, offering insights into how veterans and service leavers can tailor their skills for the tech industry. UDSS' General Sir Richard Barrons, an ambassador for TechVets, shared his personal transition story, highlighting the valuable skills that military personnel bring to tech roles.
Attendees enjoyed a series of panel discussions on topics ranging from general tech and cybersecurity to data specialisms and software development. The event also provided a platform for networking, helping members of the British military community connect with potential employers in tech such as Royal Mail, Expedia, AWS, Bank of America and Roke.
The Google Academy sponsored event gave British military veterans, service leavers and forces family members insights into tech careers via panel discussions and informal networking opportunities.
