Peter Hewitt is Co-Founder of UDSS alongside General Sir Richard Barrons. Over the past 25 years he has served as chairman or director of 13 UK public companies, and was a founding director of eight IPOs. He is currently Chairman of Blackfinch Spring VCT plc and Scampton Holdings Ltd. From 2012–2018 he served as an Alderman in the City of London, sitting on the City’s Finance, Investment and Property Committees (over £6bn under management) and acting as the inaugural Chairman of the City’s £20m Social Investment Fund. He holds the rank of Honorary Group Captain with 601 (County of London) Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force.

Peter’s public-policy and finance work includes membership of the Government’s Taskforce on Retail Social Investment, the Associate Parliamentary Group on Wholesale Financial Markets, and service as a UKTI Catalyst member and adviser to UKTI’s Financial Services Organisation, for which he authored several papers on overseas investment opportunities. He is active in charitable and pro bono roles: Finance Committee member at ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, Appeal Patron of the Sea Change Sailing Trust, and founder of Raleigh 400. He is a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Woolmen and a founding freeman and Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Entrepreneurs.
