The 2025 UK Strategic Defence Review (SDR) is a comprehensive assessment of the nation's defence capabilities and strategy, published on 2 June 2025 2025. It is produced by an independent review team, marking the first time a UK defence review has been externally led.
The review is led by Lord Robertson, a former Labour Defence Secretary and NATO Secretary General, along with Dr Fiona Hill and General Sir Richard Barrons.
The review considers the threats Britain faces, the capabilities needed to address them, the state of the UK armed forces, and available resources.
