UDSS Co-Chair Peter Hewitt Appointed Ambassador for The Not Forgotten

Written by Admin | May 28, 2026

The appointment was made on Tuesday 19th May 2026 at the charity’s annual Buckingham Palace Garden Party, hosted by The Not Forgotten’s Patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.

The Not Forgotten is a long-established Armed Forces charity supporting serving personnel and veterans living with injury, illness and isolation. Through social events, entertainment, respite breaks and challenge activities, the charity helps bring connection, confidence and recognition to members of the Armed Forces community across the UK.

For UDSS, Peter’s appointment reflects a shared commitment to service, leadership and support for those who have served the nation.

As Co-Chair of UDSS, Peter works across defence, security, resilience and strategic advisory activity, supporting organisations and leaders operating in complex environments. His new role with The Not Forgotten will see him help raise awareness of the charity’s work and support its ongoing engagement with partners, supporters and the wider defence community.

Peter Hewitt said:

“I am honoured to become an Ambassador for The Not Forgotten. The charity has an extraordinary history and a very human mission: to ensure that veterans and serving personnel who are living with injury, illness or isolation know they remain part of a community that values them. It is a privilege to support Richard Walker and the team in their work.”

The appointment was marked alongside Colonel Richard Walker OBE, Chief Executive of The Not Forgotten, at Buckingham Palace. Photographs taken on the day show Peter and Richard outside the Palace and beside The Not Forgotten’s elephant statue, the emblem of the charity.

The elephant is a fitting symbol for The Not Forgotten: a reminder of memory, loyalty and enduring companionship. These values sit at the heart of the charity’s work and align closely with Peter’s own commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.

UDSS is proud to recognise Peter’s appointment and looks forward to supporting his work as an ambassador for a charity that continues to make a meaningful difference to veterans, serving personnel and their families.
