Meet the Team: Chrissie Ross, UDSS Business Development Manager and URIS Talent Acquisition Manager

Chrissie Ross is putting her business growth and recruitment expertise to good use in the
defence and security sector with UDSS and URIS.

We are very pleased to welcome Chrissie Ross to the Universal Defence and Security S olutions (UDSS) team. She also brings her skills and expertise to the talent acquisition team at our sister site, Universal Recruitment and Interim Solutions (URIS). Chrissie is serving as Business Development Executive for UDSS and Talent Acquisition Manager for URIS. Her background in business and organisational development make her an asset to our growing team, as does her experience working directly with the British Armed Forces.

Making a Difference with the RLC Foundation

Chrissie became involved in the military community when she took on a business management role for the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) Foundation. She had a family connection to the RLC, and found it fulfilling to help promote the professional success of RLC soldiers and officers.

“I’d always wanted to work for a charity, so I liked the idea of being able to do some good,” she says. “Also it was new, so I could grow with it. It wasn’t fitting into an existing role, it was building the role.”

The RLC Foundation launched in 2015 and Chrissie was there in its early days- organising events that connected RLC soldiers and officers with their commercial industry counterparts, curating content for a yearly magazine, and building the foundation’s online presence from the ground up. Thanks in large part to her work, the RLC Foundation has grown to become a trusted source of professional development opportunities for those serving, facilitating career excellence (and celebrating it at awards dinners once organised by Chrissie).

Developing Her Own UDSS Role

Chrissie is set to shape her own role within UDSS and URIS as well. She’s bringing with her
a large network of RLC alumni poised to join UDSS’ existing bank of defence and security
experts.

One of her first tasks involves developing the URIS website. In the works is an interactive executive search system, where site visitors can input their details and instantly connect to the broader UDSS database, including job vacancies and contact information for the UDSS team.

“I’m looking forward to growing it with the company, to getting involved in all the projects and beginning to bring some new business in,” says Chrissie. “It’s exciting times!”

“They’ve all got expertise in different areas, and that’s quite interesting,” Chrissie says.
“[Through UDSS] I’m working with people like a Vice Admiral from the Navy, and then you’ve
got someone from the RAF, and someone from the Army, and someone who’s particularly
skilled in cyber security...it’s quite varied.”
