On Wednesday 25th June 2025, Universal Defence and Security Solutions proudly joins organisations across the UK in recognising the service, sacrifice, and professionalism of our Reserve Forces.
Reservists Day is a moment to honour the men and women who balance civilian careers with military readiness, contributing critical skills, resilience, and leadership to our national defence.
The Vital Role of Reservists
Reservists are a cornerstone of the UK’s Armed Forces, making up around one-sixth of our military personnel. From logistics to medical support, from engineering to cyber defence, they serve across all branches — often behind the scenes, always at the ready.
At UDSS, we recognise the depth of their impact. Reservists enhance operational flexibility, support global missions, and often bring cutting-edge civilian expertise into the military environment. They embody a spirit of adaptability and dedication that strengthens the entire defence ecosystem.
Why Reserves Day Matters
As part of Armed Forces Week, Reserves Day offers a national platform to thank those who serve part-time but with full commitment. It’s a chance to tell their stories, spotlight their skills, and acknowledge the balancing act they perform between day jobs, family life, and military duty.
Despite their vital contributions, Reservists don’t always get the recognition they deserve. Reserves Day ensures they do.
UDSS and the Reserve Community
As Gold Award holders in the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme, UDSS is committed to supporting both Reservists and the wider military community.
Our Co-Chair, Peter Hewitt JP, continues to serve as an Honorary Group Captain in 601 Squadron RAuxAF. Reflecting on Reserves Day 2025, he said:
“Reservists represent the very best of public service. Their commitment, both in and out of uniform, enhances our national resilience. UDSS is proud to champion their contribution — and to support their development in both military and civilian careers.”
General Sir Richard Barrons KCB CBE, Co-Chair of UDSS, is also a longstanding advocate for the Reserve Forces and Cadets. He regularly supports initiatives that highlight the strategic value that Reservists bring to the UK’s defence posture — both today and for the future.
Life as a Reservist
Being a Reservist is not only a duty, it’s an opportunity. Benefits include:
• Professional Development: Leadership, problem-solving, and specialist training transferable to civilian roles
• Financial Rewards: Paid service days and tax-free bonuses
• Adventure & Purpose: From international operations to joint exercises, the life of a Reservist is dynamic and rewarding
Join Us in Marking Reserves Day
At UDSS, we are proud to stand with our Reserve Forces — past, present, and future. We invite you to join us in showing appreciation for the men and women whose part-time service delivers full-time value to the UK’s security.
To all Reservists — thank you.
